Hi there. I am a mac newbie (converted to the light side lol). I am trying to get my printer and scanner (brother MFC-255CW) working on Mountain Lion 10.8.5.
- Software Download information page from Brother.com for North/South/Central America, Europe and Asia/Oceania.
- Brother MFC-255CW driver package contains the required software for connecting this printing device to the user's PC. In addition to the driver, the package contains setup and management utilities used to administer functions of the printer and connection.

VueScan is compatible with the Brother MFC-255CW on Windows x86, Windows x64, Windows RT, Windows 10 ARM, Mac OS X and Linux. If you're using Windows and you've installed a Brother driver, VueScan's built-in drivers won't conflict with this. If you haven't installed a Windows driver for this scanner, VueScan will automatically install a driver.
I have downloaded the 'CUPS Printer Driver' and 'Scanner Driver (TWAIN)'. I have then double clicked the package and run the installer. Once installed I have tried to go the following:
1. Apple symbole
Mfc 255cw Software
2. Go to System Preferences
3. Print and Scan

4. clicked the '+' sign
the list that comes up under 'default' is blank. So I am not sure what to do next. Appreciate any help!
